Racine Unified Adopts Pandemic Influenza Response Plan
(10/20/2009) The Racine Unified School District Board of Education has adopted a response plan to guide district officials through a pandemic influenza outbreak in the public schools.
The plan was developed over the past several months in collaboration with local health departments, health care providers and state officials. It maps out how the district will respond to influenza that results in large-scale temporary absences of staff and students at district schools.
Pandemic influenza is defined by public health experts as a flu virus for which there is little or no immunity in the human population; causes serious illness, and spreads easily from person-to-person. The current H1N1 influenza virus is considered a pandemic influenza.
