Wadewitz was built in 1957 as a combined elementary and orthopedic school. As a P5 school, Wadewitz has small classrooms with a teacher-student ratio less than 25 students to one teacher. Wadewitz is also a Title I School which provides Title I teachers and "Literacy Educational Assistants" to help all children improve their reading, writing and grammar skills. Wadewiz offers a "Transitional Bilingual" program through fifth grade.

The staff at Wadewitz has made a personal commitment to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for all our children. Because of this commitment, Wadewitz has implemented a "Bully Free" program.
